This past week I had the chance to hike up the Tom Thumb Trail. The views were just incredible. Really. I went with my girlfriend and we both kept saying how they got better and better and we winded our way up. Super fun, although not easy. There’s a couple of places that were a bit steep and my gf found it challenging to find her footing, but I helped her out. My hiking boots served me well, haha. Awesome hike that we’re sure to return to. – Greg
Steep climb at times! Lots of fun switchbacks and interesting rock shapes to look at. Nice people we bumped into on the way up made for good times. Awesome view of the valley from the Thumb itself. Would definitely hike here again. – Chase
The views on this hike are simply breathtaking. I appreciated the variety of trails to choose from, depending on how much time you have or what length of hike you’re interested in. A bit challenging at times, because the majority of the hike is up or downhill. The gravel was a bit slippery under my feet on the way down but it made for a bit more excitement. Can be slippery going downhill when the gravel slides under your feet. Bring water and start early – it gets hot!! Otherwise, a beautiful hike where the trails are well maintained and signs were helpful. – Kelly

How They Met:
Dayna had been living in Scottsdale, Arizona, for two and a half years and was having a hard time finding love. She had tried all the dating apps with no luck but decided to sign up for one last one. Although a bit pessimistic, she tried her best to approach this last shot with an open mind, and boy did it work.
As luck would have it, a “normal-looking” profile popped up. Matthew. Nice smile. Promising.
A couple hours later, a notification popped up. He had liked a photo of her with her family. This really caught her attention.
The two texted back and forth for a few days, getting to know each other, until one day, they decided to get some sushi together.
Matthew was a perfect gentleman while Dayna gobbled up most of the food they ordered. In her defense, he was quite the talker and she wasn’t about to wait for him to catch up on salmon sashimi! The night was enjoyable but she didn’t feel any sort of strong romantic connection, and assumed that would be it.
Unbeknownst to her, Matthew had texted one of his friends after their date that he had just met his future wife. Unbeknownst to him, she didn’t feel the same… at least, not right away.
Matthew attempted starting text conversations the two weeks following with little success. Her responses seemed short and uninterested, but he knew something was there.
Eventually, she conceded, and agreed to meet with him for another date.
They both agreed to have their favorite fast food that night paired with the perfect bottle of wine from his family’s vineyard. (Ahem). Dayna recalls glancing over at him and feeling as though something had suddenly clicked.
It later became apparent that Matthew had only been living in Scottsdale, AZ, for a day when they matched. Some things are just meant to be.
How They Asked:
A colleague of Dayna’s who worked as a photographer asked both Matt and Dayna if they were interested in working on an outdoor shoot together, since she specializes in romantic couples photoshoots. She wanted to photograph them, in all their natural loving glory, with some of Scottsdale’s best views in the background.
The couple had gotten used to posing for their friend whenever she needed someone to fill in, so when she asked if they were available for a last minute shoot, they willingly agreed.
Little did Dayna know, this was Matthew’s third attempt at surprising her after having had to take the ring in to get fixed a number of times.
More tense than usual, Matthew did his best to stay calm and have fun during the shoot like they always did. When the moment was right, he dropped to one knee, pulled out his sparkling diamond engagement ring from Scottsdale, AZ, and simply asked, “Will you?”. Dayne was overcome with excitement and jumped up and down several times before kissing her man with a tearful, “Yes”.
Lucky for them, they had a personalized photo shoot perfectly planned to capture their monumental moment. The perfect Scottsdale, AZ, proposal.
