How They Met:

Marla and Eugene both moved to Stamford, CT, around the same time. They met through mutual friends and joined the same baseball league. They began spending time together with a group of friends but quickly wanted their time together to be alone. They spent weekends enjoying delicious meals together, both home-cooked and out at local restaurants. Before they even realized it, they were in a full-on relationship.

Eugene actually wasn’t brave enough to kiss Marla until her younger brother was in town, visiting, which was a bit awkward. Since then, they’ve supported each other through some hard times, including difficult living situations, changes in employment, and parents’ health problems. Although they both have very different personalities, Marla being A-type and Eugene being a source of calm, they’ve proven that they’re a great team and can work through anything together.

How They Asked:

After they had been together for a little more than three years, the engagement talk kept coming up in conversation. They both knew they wanted to get married at some point, to each other, that is, but just didn’t know what. When she returned to the living room, Eugene got down on one knee and proposed. It was still, somehow, so intimate, even in that very mundane weekend atmosphere. They both loved that their big proposal moment was just a heightened version of the love they shared in their apartment everyday.
