Reno, NV, Love Story and Proposal : Ashley and Zayne
How They Met:
Ashley flew to Reno, NV, to attend her best friend’s wedding and be her Maid of Honor. Zayne was also attending the same wedding as a guest and was a friend of the groom’s. Since Ashley was living in Portland at the time, she knew that most likely, nothing would come from any chance meeting with a guy, so decided to put that out of her mind. The outdoor ceremony was gorgeous and despite Ashley being in the present moment and fully focused on her girlfriend who was getting married, she couldn’t help but notice a handsome guy sitting on the groom’s side. He was smiling so brightly, seemingly happy for his friend, but she later found out he was mesmerized by her. Zayne had also planned not to really try and connect with any women at the wedding since he was just out of a long-term relationship, but couldn’t help but be taken with Ashley.
Ashley and Zayne kept catching the other looking over during the cocktail hour, and when Ashley took a moment to go to the bar and get herself a glass of wine, Zayne jumped on the opportunity to introduce himself to her. They immediately connected about their tattoos and proceeded to talk throughout the evening. She almost missed her cue to go up and give her Maid of Honor speech!
They enjoyed time with their friends and danced the night away. They both say they fell in love with each other that night, and hoped that one day, they’d be dancing at their own wedding. Looks like that’s going to happen after all.
How They Asked:
They spent the first year of their relationship doing long distance, so when Ashley finally moved to New York to live with Zayne, he knew he had to up the ante for their proposal. They flew to Colorado Springs and stayed at the Garden of the Gods resort. They landed on a Thursday afternoon and had dinner reservations that Ashley had made, so she wasn’t at all suspicious that a proposal would happen. Since Ashley and Zayne both love going out to nice dinners together, spending time having a drink and dressing up was something that they were used to. They ordered a bottle of champagne to the room, listened to music, and got ready for dinner.
They enjoyed the breathtaking view at dinner and went for a little walk before dessert and drinks. With the sun setting in the distance, Zayne got down on one knee and asked Ashley to marry him with a gorgeous diamond engagement ring from Reno, NV, where they had first met. It was totally unexpected and she was overjoyed. What was even more wonderful was that Zayne had arranged for a photographer to capture the memorable proposal in the distance.
