How They Met: Sandra and Nathan met at Gateway Church in Ashland, KY, while attending regular services. Nathan was a member of the congregation for much longer than Sandra, and was pleasantly surprised the day he noticed her walk in. He played in the church band and so he had a clear view of the door. He was too nervous to introduce himself right away and waited a few months for an organic run-in. Since it wasn’t happening, he decided to be brave and go up to her one day after services. They had a great conversation which led to a walk, and at the end of a couple of hours that had flown by, he asked her for her phone number. They went on their first date on New Year’s Day at a local coffee shop. He was immediately taken by her vivacious personality and incredibly infectious laugh. After their first date, Nathan recalls knowing that he wanted to marry her. When she would speak about growing up in Savannah, GA, he understood that it was a place she held dear to her heart. He thought to himself, if he would ever have the honor of asking her to marry him, and the courage to do so, it would have to be in Savannah. 

How They Asked: Nick knew that no matter what, he’d have to capture his proposal perfectly, so he first locked down some photographers. Since He and Sandra both love the 1940’s and historic plantation homes, he planned for a bike tour through historic Savannah. Though they got caught in a terrible thunderstorm, they found shelter and Nathan improvised a new plan. They ended the tour early and had a picnic at a park that had just recently hosted a wedding. The flowers that he had arranged to be set up by the fountain were just beautiful and it was the perfect setting to present Sandra with a diamond engagement ring from Ashland, KY.
