How They Asked: Holiday party season was in full swing last December and Marnie and Josh were attending a work party. The venue was the Hotel Claremont’s roof, overlooking Atlanta’s gorgeous skyline. Marnie was running late, as usual, so Josh poured himself an afternoon cocktail while she finished getting ready. On their cab ride to the hotel, a work friend messaged them saying to hurry up.
When the couple had arrived at the hotel and escorted up to the roof, they found that it was empty. Marnie asked Josh if maybe they had misunderstood and the party might be taking place in one of the banquet halls or conference rooms. She told Josh to call their work friend who had messaged them earlier. Josh, instead, offered that they have a quick drink on the roof, just the two of them, since it was such a gorgeous day.
They headed around to the other side of the roof to get a couple of cocktails, and while they were taking in the fresh air and the gorgeous view, Josh explained to Marnie that there wasn’t, in fact, a holiday party at all. Marnie grabbed hold of the railing closest to her to stop her from fainting. She was overwhelmed with emotion and began crying tears of joy as Josh got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. He slipped the gorgeous diamond engagement ring he had custom made for her with a local diamond jeweler in Atlanta, GA, after she said yes.
Both sets of parents had flown in but neither knew that they were meeting them for post-engagement drinks. Everyone was overwhelmed with surprise and excitement that made the whole experience all the more special. The memorable proposal took place with Atlanta’s skyline in the background. Breathtaking.
