While on a business trip in New Orleans together, Shawna had asked Mara if she was seeing anyone at the time. When Mara explained that she was casually dating but hadn’t met anyone special, Shawna suggested that she go on a date with her brother, Kenneth. Shawna showed Mara a few pictures of Kenneth and said there would be no hard feelings if nothing came of it, but that they should both try. She had a feeling that they’d be a good match. She was right.

Shawna’s wedding was coming up and Mara was invited but both of them thought it would be too much pressure for them to meet for the first time at the wedding, especially after telling both of them about the other. Kenneth decided to call Mara up and invite her out to ice cream a few weeks prior to the wedding. They ended up having a blast, walking around a local park, sharing ice cream, and getting to know one another. They both remember it like it was yesterday, describing time as standing still and later noticing hours had magically flown by. It was a first date to remember.
