Irvine, CA Love Story and Proposal : Brad and Jamie

Couple and their dog in Irvine, CA

How They Met:

Brad and Jamie first met when she started working at the Taco Bell headquarters in Irvine, CA. She was looking forward to starting a new job but never did she imagine, in a million years, that she would meet her future husband her first day on the job. They kept their relationship a secret for the first little while and tried to maintain as professional of a workplace environment as possible.

Throughout her first day of training, Brad kept on finding any little excuse to approach her desk and talk. It was fairly obvious that there was at least a crush at first sight on both of their parts.

After a couple of weeks, a few of their colleagues decided to rent bikes and ride to their lunch break. Jamie was wearing pants with no pockets so she had asked Brad if he would kindly hold her phone and credit card for her. Flirting at its finest. She somehow forgot to get her card back from him so he used his work account on skype to instant message her. He asked for her Snapchat, which Jamie couldn’t stand but decided to overlook it, and soon after, their texting relationship began.

Jamie recalls being on a date before she and Brad started dating (spoiler alert!), and faking food poisoning just so she could return home and text with him. She felt bad but just knew she had to spend time getting to know him and sure enough, he asked her out the next weekend.

After dating for 3 weeks, they moved in together and the rest is history.

Jamie recalls matching on Bumble two weeks prior to her first day at Taco Bell, but she had decided to delete the app all of a sudden so that she wouldn’t connect with people from work, because, well, that would just be wrong! Seems like it was just meant to be.

How They Asked:

Brad has always been a bit of a joker. Years before he was even considering looking for a ring, he would constantly say things like, “Did you get your nails done?”, “Is that how you’re wearing your hair?”, and “Do you think we should dress all fancy?”. He would purposely try and word things in a way that would make Jamie think he was going to propose.

The day he popped the question, he, once again, started saying things like, “Babe, your nails look amazing!” and, “Oh great! You’re doing your hair!”. Jamie, used to these games, rolled her eyes and continued on, business as usual.

They were on their way to hike at Laguna Beach with their dog. Once they started their hike, Jamie noticed that Brad was not himself, mostly because of how slowly he was walking and how long he was taking to do everything. He wanted to stop for bathroom breaks a couple of times, take some pictures of the view that they constantly saw, even snap some selfies, which he never did! Jamie, being a more uptight, always on-the-go, A-type personality, was getting very frustrated.

While walking on the hiking trail, Jamie suddenly noticed a woman wearing a big sunhat, sunglasses, and snapping photos of the gorgeous view. She thought nothing of her, besides maybe that she liked her dress.

When they finally got to a nice spot they usually stopped at, looking out over the city, they tied up their dog so that he wouldn’t run away while they could relax for a minute. It was just then that Brad got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Jamie was ecstatic, and after a few moments, realized that the lady in the sunhat was taking photos of them! She had caught the whole thing and turned out to be Jamie’s friend from college!
